Colorized Cowboy


The picture above is pretty typical of old pictures: it lacks any color!  However, in Adobe Photoshop we can add some spice to this cowboy’s fabulous pants.

First, we need to duplicate the cowboy’s image and go to Image > Mode > RGB Scale.  Now we can add some color to the photo.  With the new cowboy layer selected, we need to change the mode to Color, this will make it so the colors we add to the picture act as an overlay of color instead of being solid and covering up the texture of the original one.

From there, select the Paint Tool and go to town!  Keep in mind, though, that you can pretty much only use bright colors, so no royal blue or black, when painting your man.
